The Pros and Cons of Chapstick
Jensen does this thing with his mouth, his lips, really. Because Jensen refuses to wear chapstick. Something about-- Actually, Jared has no idea why. Vancouver is cold and wet in the winter, and Jared is in pain if he leaves his chapstick at home, but fucking Jensen just licks his lips. Every time the director yells cut.
And the thing is, the dickhead doesn't even have the decency to have chapped lips like every other normal person, all cracked and ugly. No, Jensen has to chew at his bottom lip until it's shiny and red and smooth.
Jared's tried subtle. He's offered Jensen his chapstick. Hell, he even went so far as to buy Jensen a chapstick of his own (the kind with the black wrapping so as to maintain the manly status quo), but Jensen's always all, "Naw, man, I'm cool," chewchewchew and it's starting to drive Jared out of his fucking mind.
Because you can't say to your male co-start that his lip-chewing is distracting. You're not supposed to notice that they're all red and shiny and swollen. Unless you're Rosenbaum and Tom is your male co-star, in which case you say shit like, "Fucking hell, Tom, were you taking a piss or sucking guys off in there?" when Tom comes out of the bar's bathroom all red-lipped and pouty. But, then, those two have, in all probability, been fucking for years, so it's totally different.
Jared can't say that to Jensen, and he can't not notice, because Jensen has these lips and everyone notices, even if they don't say so. All of which means that Jared is just kind of fucked, and not in the fun way. So he pulls out his chapstick between takes and reapplies, and Jensen chews at his lip and shakes his head.
"What?" Jared asks.
"Do you have to do that every time we cut?"
Jared looks at his chapstick and back at Jensen. "You're kidding me, right? Seriously, Jen. What could you possibly have against chapstick? What did it ever do to you?"
"I don't have anything against chapstick. It's just..." Jensen rubs the back of his neck and looks away. "It's just kind of distracting is all. Whatever. Nevermind. Just try not to be such a girl, okay?"
He turns and walks away, and Jared just watches him leave. Doesn't think to say, "I don't think we can be friends anymore," until Jensen is out of earshot.

"Oh." Jared looks down at the chapstick and smiles.
