Something Wicked Coda
Sam knows that Dean feels responsible for him. That he'd do anything to keep him safe. Even if he'd never said it, his actions speak to that all the time. When he's not busy being completely fucking obnoxious, that is.
But Sam doesn't feel that. He doesn't feel responsible for Dean. Never thought for a moment that when he left for college, Dean wouldn't be able to take care of himself.
The thing is, while he doesn't feel responsible for Dean, there's not a damn thing in this world that Sam wouldn't do to keep Dean safe. He would die for him, sure. But when you came right down to it, dying was fairly easy. Sam would lie, cheat, steal, maim and kill for Dean, and God help anyone who decided they ought to test him on that.
Dean is all that Sam has left to protect in this world, and Sam swears he'll do whatever it takes to keep what's his safe this time.
